Mission: Vivere aut non vivere ...
Location: Various

Addison stepped out of the airlock and onto the deck of the Lantau. She hoisted her duffle bag of personal items higher onto her shoulder and took a moment to look around. It was hard to believe, she thought to herself: three months ago she graduated from the Academy and had been serving as a medical officer and primary surgeon on Iota Station. Her promotion to Lieutenant JG came rather quickly, and with it came new set of orders - to prepare for immediate transfer to the U.S.S. Lantau to serve as Chief Medical Officer.

It was absurd how fast everything was moving. When she enrolled at the Academy, she knew one of the possibilities upon graduation was to be stationed on an assignment far from home, which was exactly what had happened. Being stationed on a far-away assignment was one of the things that excited her about being in Starfleet - it would really test her skills as a doctor, but she wasn't thrilled at the prospect of being far from her family. Being posted to Iota Station wasn't the most glamorous assignment, but Addison decided that she could have done far worse.

And now, here she was being assigned to a Century-class starship. It was unusual for someone so fresh from the Academy to receive such a posting, but she had to assume that someone, somewhere had recommended her for the position. It was a big step up from her previous post, but she felt positive about the change. It really would be a chance to explore strange, new worlds. The only drawback was that the initial assignment would take her even further from home.

Addison was aware of the situation with the U.S.S. Clip and had been briefed on some of the most superficial details of the mission, but getting the full briefing would have to wait until she met with either Captain Haught or Commander Kilbane. Still, from the moment she received her reassignment orders, she couldn't help but think about all of the preparations that needed to be made. Contingencies to be planned for. Addison hoped that the current staff on the Lantau had already started proper preparations. While she tried to be an optimistic person, as a surgeon, Addison had always been trained to anticipate worst-case scenarios, and this mission presented her with plenty to think about.

Making her way to the nearest turbolift, Addison found her way to the senior officers quarters. Checking the PADD with her transfer info, she found the corresponding quarters, punched in the code on the door panel and entered. She walked in slowly, taking a moment to absorb her new home-away-from-home. The quarters were spacious - more so than Addison had expected. If she was to spend an extended amount of time in deep space, this would definitely be suitable.

She slung the duffle bag off her shoulder and onto her bed. Unpacking and settling in would have to wait - there was a lot to do, and little time to waste - but where to start? Stop by Sickbay and see how preparations were going, or head to see the Captain? Before going to Sickbay, Addison thought it would be better to get the full scope of the mission from the Captain.

Reaching into her duffle bag, she pulled out two PADDs - one containing her transfer orders, and one containing the preparation plans for the Medical Department. Addison had been up much of the previous night drafting several plans for her department concerning the upcoming mission, and would be ready to implement them depending on what the Captain had to say.

Ducking into the bathroom, Addison took a moment to check her appearance. She looked in the mirror and was immediately aware of how tired she looked. It was something she hoped the Captain wouldn't notice, or would assume that it was because of the amount of time spent preparing for the mission.

Satisfied that there was nothing more to be gained from obsessing over the bags under her eyes, Addison tucked her hair behind her ears and returned to the bedroom. She swiped up the two PADDs and quickly reviewed the preparation plans she spent most of the night preparing. Confident that she could successfully present the material, she smoothed the front of her uniform and headed for the door. It was time to meet the Captain.
