Location: Captain's Ready Room
The turbolift doors opened, revealing the bridge of the Century class vessel. It was busy, as you might expect the bridge of a starship would be, but in a way that was much different. Addison sensed the anxiety in the air. It was so thick you would have thought you could reach out and feel it. She recognized several of the senior staff members - Addison had made it a point to briefly study up on her new colleagues - but introductions would have to wait for another day.
Making her way to the Captain's ready room, Addison paused to smooth the front of her uniform, straighten her commbadge and tuck her hair behind her ears. She pressed the button on the panel next to the door to request entry, and a moment later the door opened. The Captain was seated behind her desk, visibly preoccupied with the tasks at hand.
Addison smiled and extended her hand as she entered the ready room. "Captain Haught, I'm Doctor MacKenzie. Requesting permission to come aboard as the Lantau's Chief Medical Officer."
Evelynn looked up. "Ah, welcome aboard Lieutenant and permission granted. Please have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink?" said Evelynn in a keloming manner.
"No, ma'am," Addison said, holding up her hand while taking a seat opposite from the Captain. "I was hoping you could give me some more detail about the specifics of this mission. The briefing I got before I left the station was very vague, and this is the kind of situation where I'd prefer to have a handle on exactly what I'm getting into."
She paused to hand over the PADD containing her contingency and preparation plans for the medical department.
"I took the liberty of putting together a few different preparation and execution plans for the department, assuming that the department is fully staffed and functioning on the standard 3-duty shift rotation," Addison said. "I'd appreciate any guidance you could provide."
Evelynn took the padd in question and laid it on her desk. "I realize you have just arrived and that you weren't in the last Staff meeting organized by the First Officer but the USS Clip was investigating an area known as the "Dead Zone" when they sent out a distress signal. There was one word that stood out and that was "The Borg"."
Addison nodded. "I downloaded the latest from Starfleet Medical and Security, so our info is all up to date. The plans I drew up are based the most recent information we have. Hopefully, you'll find them to be innovative. You'll find information for away team protocals and for in the event that we are boarded."
"Excellent. Once you get settled in I'd like for you to run a few medical drills with your staff. Run them through different scenarios envolving the Borg ranging from boarding parties to an assimilation virus. Feel free to recruit other members of the crew if you need to." she knew she as asking a lot of the new doctor but Evelynn wanted to be ready for anything.
"Yes ma'am," Addison responded. "If there's nothing else, I'll get to work," she said, standing and moving toward the door.
"Thank you Lt. I will be stopping by with in the next few days to see how everything is going. Dismissed."
